Waghorn first of four?

Martyn Waghorn has joined on loan for a month from Sunderland. Curious signing this. The 18 year-old pocket battleship striker has been loaned out to get fit and, presumably, some first team action. I can only assume the plan is to link him with Andy Gray and that we are hoping we can extend an initial loan until the end of the season - there would be little point otherwise.

I saw Waghorn play at the Valley in February in an U18's cup clash. He was the stand-out player of the evening scoring with a crisp volley and also thumping the woodwork. He reminded me very much of Wayne Rooney; similar stature, strong,  quick and a powerful shot on both feet. All things considered he's a reasonable gamble given the step-up to first team football and the fact that he's returning from injury.

You have say that a move of this type for a young, inexperienced striker doesn't say a lot for the futures of Chris Dickson and Stuart Fleetwood. If they are not good enough, we should look to move them on and cut the wage bill.
