In the meantime, it's a dream start for Maradona. A below average Scotland team will not present any serious threat and Argentina will be admired by a large Hampden crowd there to pay homage to Scotland's Player of the Year in 1986. National emnity has a lot to answer for. What we can all be sure of is that Argentina's players will be very keen to impress Mrs Tevez who has made the long journey to see her son appear before the great Diego (reprinted here just in case there's anyone who hasn't seen it doing the rounds on the internet).

Oh Diego
Scotland host a friendly against an Argentina side this evening who will be desperate to impress new manager Diego Maradona. It's a remarkble national appointment. A man whose off-the-pitch lifestyle has arguably mirrored that of Paul Gascoigne. Can you seriously imagine the FA appointing Gazza as national manger? One way or another I can't see Diego's role as Argentina manager lasting too long.

I know you probably don't appreciate it Dave - but loved Terry Butcher's comments.
ReplyDeleteChicago - I make him right and so would every Scot on the planet if he'd cheated against us. Terry Butcher is highly regarded north of the border and the fans will respect him for what he's said.
