Walking back after the game the talk was of him being a one-cap wonder which would be a real shame as Big Chris offers something different to McFadden, Miller, Fletcher and Boyd. His chances of getting a second cap and maybe atoning for his historic miss were probably improved by Boyd's announcement yesterday that he won't play for George Burley after not getting on against Norway, although Burley looks like he's trying to build bridges as Boyd's absence was deeply unpopular north of the border. I think Chris Iwelumo deserves a second chance, even at 30 years of age.

Spare a thought for Big Chris
"That miss" probably won't have escaped your attention. Nine minutes after running on to an enthusiastic Hampden Park reception for his Scotland debut, Chris Iwelumo, late of this parish, missed one of the biggest open goals you will see in football. He gaped in horror and played the remainder of the game in a state of shock.

ReplyDeleteGood to see him carry on the form he produced for Charlton.
