It's all gone quiet over there...

I must echo Chicago Addick's comments re the lack of any press coverage in the Sunday papers on what looked like momentus news on Friday evening of the indicative offer from Zabeel Investments to buy the club. Hard to suggest why. Maybe the fact that the focus this weekend was on international football? Perhaps there's actually very little more than the comment on Friday to go on? Either way, I expected some serious speculation. It could be of course that we are just an unfashionable mid-table Championship side and that there's no news until it's real news?

I hope we are not being used as leverage for Zabeel Investments to force previous target Liverpool (or similar) to change their negotiating position. I would hope Richard Murray and Co are too cute for that. Hard not to see why a deal shouldn't be cut quickly this week and we are not talking mega-money after all.

As I have said before, I am no fan of billionaire owners, and will be keeping an open mind on this as it develops. After our financial turmoil of the Summer and the wider economic challenges the world now faces, it would be great to think our prospects have changed significantly for the better. Maybe I'll regret this, but if it happens and we do get serious spending power, I hope we are sensible with the money available to us and do not do anything remotely like Manchester City appear to be doing. More than QPR, but certainly not Man City. In all of this the last thing we would want would be to threaten our club's existence a la West Ham's current perilous position.
