1) We don't need another right-back unless he's covering Moutouakil, and even then, using a loan player here is hardly a priority.
2) As he only joins initially on a one month loan, you have to expect he'll be playing, which would piss me off big time if I were an aspiring young French professional who has only just back into the side because of the departure of another loanee.
3) Murty hasn't played all season as he's been recovering from injury, so presumably we might be helping get him fit for Reading's promotion push.
To balance this strange decision, we are also taking another look at ex-Walsall bad-boy, 20 year old Ishmel Demontagnac, who appears to have a temperament problem. Just what we need right now. Presumably he is a pick from Kinsella with his Walsall connections, although I understand Demontagnac was on our books as a youngster. He looks to be out of contract, so I am guessing we could get him for next to nothing and that would make "another January signing."
Last year Alan Pardew went for four relatively high profile loanees at a time when our squad was competing for promotion. They were all played and most of them got more games than their performances warranted and it had a negative affect on morale and results as we fell away. Murty might fit that bracket assuming his loan gets extended but it's hard to see Demontagnac featuring regularly this season if he is to become one of the "three or four" mentioned.
It seems we are destined to get nearly everything we do wrong this season, so perhaps I shouldn't be so surprised. At least we haven't left it until nearly February to make a move.
Demontagnac has already had a trial at Palace and they rejected him, as of course we let him go as a youngster.
ReplyDeleteWas taken off after 62 minutes for our reserves, doesn't look like he did very much.
Curbs player philosophy was to bring in players that had something to prove, maybe Parkie is trying to do that, but can't see him working out. that said we do need more strikers to play in the clubs trainging ground matches.
ReplyDeleteMootoo is an exciting player but can't defend for toffee, I think Murty will be an excellent aquisition, adding a bit of steal and determination to the team and giving some real leadership, and about time too. Mootoo would make an excellent winger if you ask me and that is where we should play him.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, but what's the sense in a one month loan? If we can't secure players for four months, then there's a risk they will play four games and leave which does us no favours. You also have to consider the existing player. The message would appear to be that he's not ood enough.
