Various sources are suggesting that's not the case and that two of the current squad could be on their way. Yassin Moutouakil is reported to have told fans he is on his way out because Parky doesn't rate him and Jonjo Shelvey is being linked with a money move to the north-east with Newcastle, Sunderland and Boro expressing interest. I really hope that there is no truth in either of these rumours.
Moutouakil is still learning his trade but has shown plenty of promise that he can become a top class attacking right-back. I don't believe Martin Cranie has added much more, other than an ability to play centre-half as well, and he's not even our player. If Yassin was to get moved on, it means we will be in the market for another new face as cover - it's not as if he's likely to attract a significant fee either.
The Shelvey speculation is more concerning. Hailed as the best youth product since Scott Parker, he could move before February on piffling terms as he's still a classed as a schoolboy (still 16 years old). If this happens we will have every right to feel aggrieved whether the club have been complicit or not. If he's lured personally to sign for someone else then the rules will once again see us penalised and if he goes because we need the money, then the remaining ambitions of the Board must be questioned seriously. I think Valley Gold might take a big hit as well - what's the point contributing to youth development if you don't get to see the fruits of your labour?
I read the Shelvey rumour yesterday with much sadness. I'd be gutted to see both leave. All the "assets" from Premier league days seem to be leaking away.
