Include Cup matches in next year's season tickets (price accordingly) or there will be a sub-5000 gate for any similar repeat of the Leyton Orient or Huddersfield ties this season.
I'm a Huddersfield supporter but totally behind you on this one. Football clubs don't seem to realise how little money people have got and then moan when they don't turn up because they can't afford it. It's not just a Charlton problem. All the best for the rest of the season.
HTFC - Thanks for the comment. Thought you did well to get nigh on 500 there yesterday given your recent run and the fact that you were down only a couple of months back. Leciester at home gives you a chance of some revenge and the fifth round. On the boyhood basis that you always wanted to go out to the eventual winners, I will wish you well!
Anon - like me, you are obviously focusing on the raw reality of Cup football for Addicks and the fact that we would like our match or two a season at home thrown in. NYA makes a good point though, that the Board wouldn't want to have a bumper receipts day potentially diluted by season ticket holders. Having said that, you might think the manager would be incentivised to prioritise performances on home cup ties so we might actually have a cup run one year and increase our chances of landing a big home tie.
Even if the game was free we would struggle with crowds if we continue to put in gutless displays like we have done over the past god knows how many years.
Our season tickets already represent great value. its cheaper going to a live game at The Valley than a trip to watch a movie at the cinema. Why add in the cup games which then stops the choice of paying for cup and league?
Excellent point, preferably with a minimal addition to the season ticket price unless we move forward into later rounds

ReplyDeleteThey won't take the risk incase they draw a 'giant' and would thus probably try to materially raise the prices on a one off basis.

It may be cheaper than going to the cinema but at least you get entertainment!
ReplyDeleteCan't say its much fun when the cup ALWAYS disappoints
Perhaps we could call it "operation FA Cup". Still lose, but get a few more through the turnstiles...
