Powell swoops for Darel Russell

Chris Powell moved into the loan market again today to sign versatile right-sided midfielder, Darel Russell until January. This is a smart move with Johnnie Jackson being sidelined for a couple of months.

Russell is another of those one-time Charlton targets who we have gone back for. He is a very solid and experienced pro who I believe we can rely upon to come into the side and make an immediate impact. He always impressed me when playing against us for Norwich and he's an East End boy, so will hopefully feel quickly at home - certainly more so than his present club, Preston North End.

From a squad perspective, it's also perfect timing with the crunch Huddersfield Town fixture for days away. He's a player I could imagine scoring or setting up a goal on his debut as a late substitute.

  1. Dave, have you spotted that Huddersfield have signed our old adversary John"the beast"Parkin. He has a record of scoring in debuts against us. Lets hope that Morrison & Taylor have the measure of him!

No game tomorrow, and no rugby as the Crows wait for a top of the table clash next Sat against Folkstone. They both have a 100% record after 9 games, but we have 2 more bonus points and are plus 411. This plus our new clubhouse which overlooks the pitch, so I can enjoy drinking my guiness during the game!

  2. CA - hadn't seen that and, yes, collective groan. However, he is 30 now with the body of a 45 year old. Ihe shouldn't present a serious threat to us but he could give Jordan Rhodes another half-yard.

Both of your teams top-of-the-table? Enjoy that beer in the new clubhouse.
