Battle for the Valley - Part Two

The fight against absentee landlord, Roland Duchatelet, intensifies this weekend as the Sky cameras pay an increasingly rare visit to SE7. The Coalition Against Roland Duchatelet have announced a symbolic slow march from the Liberal Club to the ground before the match with a coffin carrying the soul of our club.

The match itself promises plenty of distraction as fans are planning a number of disparate protests to draw attention of Sky's cameras. A 74th minute walkout is also part of the plan when anyone who has had enough of the under-investment, the spin the lies, the incompetent Head Coaches, the hopeless CEO and the humbling of our once proud club, needs to vote with their feet and join the protest behind the West Stand. It would be great if the Sky cameras see fans flooding out and then hear booming singing from behind the West Stand.

Now's the time and now's hour, play your part if you want Regime change.

  1. No problems with the tactics outline, but if there is a grain of hope for a good win on the day let's not bugger that by deflecting the players' concentration.

  2. Anon,

'Grain of hope' about right. Players concentration? Bit late for that. Don't think you have too much to worry about.

  3. The increasingly childish protests are doing as much harm to the club as anyone else. I understand that I am not allowed to say this, as it makes me 'not a supporter', but unfortunately it is the truth.

  4. DRN - what's your proposal then or are you happy watching the club being reduced to a lower league laughing stock by people who really don't care and who won't be here for long?

  5. DRN think of the long term future - not this weekend's result.

  6. DRN - I agree that you have a right to comment, and your comment may be out of kilter with the thinking of most of those that read these blogs. That is your right and I respect your right to hold, and express, your view.

Given that our beloved club is being mis-managed into division 1, and quite possibly in the future out into division 2 and ultimately out of the league - what would you do to try to get the owner to sell up and hand the club over to someone who actually cares about it?
Do we sit back and do nothing or do we take part in 'childish protests'? If you consider these protests to be childish what do you consider to be adult ones? Breaking windows? Assaulting club staff? Abusing the manager and players?
The result of not demonstrating is to do nothing and let the club die a long, slow lingering death.... I'd rather take part in childish pranks and at least know that I tried to do something...

Would the club even be playing at the Valley now if a few die-hard souls didn't undertake the 'childish prank' of standing in Council elections all those years ago?

I would be interested to know of your alternative suggestion...

  7. I think my comment has been taken slightly wrong, as I suspected it would. I have nothing against protesting, but was trying to say that some of the protesting is childish of late. This has led to some of the fans I know no longer attending, due to abuse shouted at them for not protesting, in front of their children. Why would they continue after that? I don't think its just fans I know who have experienced this. As someone who was involved in the Valley Party all those years ago, I can only say that that is more my way of doing things. Perhaps I was a bit brief in my original post. Protest all you like, but keep it against the club

  8. Fair enough DRN - we all want the same thing at the end of the day.

Go on, you know you want to....
