Makienok makes three

Hot in the heels of El-Hadji Ba, we have today completed the season-long loan of giant Palermo striker, Simon Makienok. There was talk of 'with an option to buy' but no mention on the Club site that it's any more than a straightforward loan.

Makienok is 24 and has scored 57 goals in his native Denmark although his move to Palermo last year saw his opportunities limited to four appearances and he failed to score. That would suggest he might struggle in the Championship but having been handed the number 9 shirt, it looks like he's going to get his chance. The current Club strategy means you have go consider the trade-off and Makienok's arrival makes the sale of Igor Vetokele look more likely.

On the CAFC site it says, "Guy Luzon has now moved to bring the forward to England until at least the end of the 2015/16 season". that would suggest there is the option to buy.

Dave, got to hope we are going to hang on to what we've got and that these new guys are an addition, rather than losing anyone else before the kick off.

Absolutely made up with this signing, if this bloke hits his fom and we get another decent centre back and a couple more signings in we're going to go close at the top

Dave - didn't spot that - taking an option always has to be the right thing to do. Sod's Law tells you he could have a superb season and we risk losing him if not...

Martin - strengthening is what we have to do to improve. I really hope you are right....

Anon - we need to hang on to Vetokele and Cousins for these signings to strengthen the side....

Yes we need to keep our quality and hopefully this signing will persuade any that haven't decided whether to stay. As for the owners plans regarding who's going out the door who knows? I'd like to think with him selling the mothership he's realised that getting to the premier is the golden goose and is going for it......... hopefully
