Warnock jumps ship

Heart-warming news yesterday that Neil Warnock has fled the floundering ship that is Crystal Palace for the equally poisoned challice that is joke club QPR. Rangers are appointing their 12th manager in four turbulent years. It's a three-and-half year deal but my money's on it ending next season at some point, if not sooner. I'm amazed Warnock stayed at Palace so long but believe that was probably more to do with Jordan's increasingly distant involvement and the cost of change, combined with the fact that he did a pretty good job whilst in charge.
The move will put £250,000 into the Palace coffers as the Administrator continues to look for loose change down the back of the sofa. Irrespective of where Palace end up this season, if they start 2010-11, it will be as a seriously weaker side than today. The Championship table shows them perilously close to the drop, level with third bottom Sheffield Wednesday and only three behind QPR themselves. Any blow we may suffer this season may be softened by heartening news of another London derby next season.
Meanwhile, play-off challengers and home-boys Huddersfield get their game-in-hand out of the way this evening when they face the difficult trip to Southampton. Whilst the saints can do us a favour here, Bristol Rovers should be tiring out Saturday's opponents Stockport at the Memorial Stadium. Roll on Saturday...

  1. Perhaps those with memories can remember Warnock criticising the loyalty of our players in the not too recent past.
